KeyNOTE SPEAKER

Keynote Speaker: Tom Veivia, Founder and President of 302 Consulting Group, LLC. 

He retired as a Supervisory Special Agent after a 27-year law enforcement career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and New York State Police, where his assignments included service in the Behavioral Analysis Unit in Stafford, Virginia, and roles as Crisis Management Coordinator and Behavioral Analysis Unit Coordinator in the New Haven, Connecticut office. In those positions, he coordinated the FBI’s response to major incidents, managed investigative resources for complex criminal matters and threats involving individuals on the pathway to violence, and trained professionals to identify, assess, and manage potential threats.

Following his FBI career, Tom served as Vice President, Crisis Management Leader and Threat Assessment Manager for Synchrony Financial in Stamford, Connecticut. His expertise spans investigations, tactical operations, crisis management, behavioral threat assessment, active shooter prevention and response planning, and major case management. He has designed and conducted tabletop and full-scale multi-agency exercises across the United States and has provided training to law enforcement and civilian organizations on critical incident preparedness, missing and abducted children investigations, and first responder trauma awareness and wellness.

Tom founded 302 Consulting Group, LLC in 2017 to apply his government and corporate experience in helping public- and private-sector organizations prepare for critical incidents, manage threats, and strengthen crisis readiness. He is a Certified Threat Manager, a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, an ASIS International Certified Protec on Professional, and the Co-Chair of the ASIS International Southern Connecticut Chapter.

Beyond the Badge: Transitioning from Law Enforcement to Civilian Security

This presentation examines the opportunities, challenges, and mindset shifts involved in moving from public law enforcement into the civilian security profession. The presentation highlights transferable law enforcement skills, the distinct strengths of career security professionals, and the differences between public- and private-sector roles in active shooter consultation, behavioral threat assessment, preparedness, response, and recovery.
